Hi, everyone!
I used to tell people I'm 70% of what I used to be. Now that number has moved up to 90% of what I used to be. The spasticity in my right leg has gone down, and right now it gives me no pain. My hearing in my right ear is still very low, and my left knee still has the H.O. The good thing about these problems is I think I am just getting used to them, and they don't even bother me. I feel great, and life is good!! I credit this success to everyone. Anyway, I've been better since March.
Well, I hope this next part doesn't seem weird, but I think it's important to tell you about someone who amazed me more than anyone. First, I must say, I will always be amazed by and thankful for my friends and family. Caring family and friends are just a given. Anyway, this basically is a huge "Thank You" to Jessie Harris. Before my accident, my sister Kristen, my friend Kurt, and I went to the 2005 Night Under Fire at Norwalk Raceway. Jessie is known as the "Queen of Diamonds" and drives a 300 mph jet dragster. She drove at Norwalk that evening. Kristen nudged me to get Jessie's autograph and a picture with her--yeah, I'm shy! Well, somehow after my accident, while I was "sleeping", Kristen came up with the idea to contact her. Somehow she did.
Jessie dedicates herself to this site and has posted many times. Her family also dedicates themselves to the site and also amazes me. I see where she gets her caring ways from. Jessie contacted Kristen and told her she was going to be at the Cleveland AutoRama and invited us to stop in. Of course, we did, but I was nervous the whole time--until I met her again. She is the most caring, nicest person, and very easy to talk to--oh, and very beautiful. Jessie also had me sit in her race car. Of course I had to have her sign something. She wrote, "Mike, my angel". She had it all wrong. I should have signed something for her that said, "Jessie, my angel".
Before March, I thought the accident was the worst thing to ever happen to me. After the AutoRama, I felt it was the best thing to happen to me. I just wanted to let everyone know about one of the most impressive things that came from my accident. Jessie is the farthest thing from a "nut-case"--her family will know what I mean by that. I would also like to thank the Hanna's and the people with Norwalk for being so kind to me.
Everyone has been there for me, so if anyone has a similar situation, or needs anything for that matter, contact me. I will help in any way I can. This includes my family, friends, Jessie and her family. Well, that seems oddly worded, but I feel Jessie and her family will always be friends and family to us, if that makes sense.
Love ya' all,
Mike
