DAY 16 AT EDWIN SHAW
I want to start by saying I have calmed down since yesterday. Thank you to all the folks who have given me information on HO. I know that with our combined brainpower we can look for alternatives. So far, I've heard about the drug Didronel (from Kelly), and Lauren tells me her dad is familiar with some injections that can be done for HO. I will get more details from her soon.
Also, I want to say that Aunt Zilda, Uncle Bus, the Dorland family, and the Carlton siblings are all in our thoughts tonight.
Mike was in good spirits tonight. Cindy made him a milkshake which he enjoyed very much (better than thickened milk). He was very happy to point out that he no longer has a catheter, but that it was a painful surprise when the nurse just pulled it out. Kurt said, "I'm sure it hurt like hell Mike. Ouch." And Mike just laughed as if to say you better believe it. So now there is only one tube left, the feeding tube, and it is well on its way to being gone.
I was out to Medina to Grandma & Grandpa Hoyt's to work on my Halloween costume with Grandma. We ended up using black spray-on fabric paint to paint the corset. It ended up pretty good for $4.99. She is sewing a few things on my jacket. It was nice being up there for a visit. It's been too long (for our family, not by normal families' standards) since I've been out to their house.
I helped Mike fill out his first menu tonight. I skipped cooking class because I just plain didn't feel like going on such a beautiful day. I figure I can get away with skipping one. I was gonna take the night off from Edwin Shaw, but just couldn't stay away. I ended up going down there about 6:30 from Medina.
Also, I had an envelope in my mailbox from Albito, a friend of the family. He works in the Akron Detective Bureau. His buddy told him they found Mike's watch at the bottom of the steps where he fell, and it was in evidence. So Albito had picked it up for us, and dropped it off. Inside was a card for us, a card for Mike, and a new wristband for Mike's watch which had been broken. Mike enjoyed reading the card from Albito & Kristen. So if you are reading this, thanks Albito. And Mike says he'll take you in golf when he gets better any day! He got a kick out of your card.
Well, I am going back to watching Invasion, my new favorite show (used to be Rockstar INXS). Invasion is a scary show to watch by yourself, especially since I had a fear of aliens as a child. Yeah, I'm weird. Goodnight all.
