DAY 19 AT EDWIN SHAW
Mike continues to eat like a pig. He has to start ordering "x2" on his menus. He is feeling much better today and good spirits.
He had therapy today and did well. Grandma & Grandpa got to watch. They are working intensely on his right arm in occupational.
In speech, Mike did some math and language exercises. He is good at the math but the language area gives him some trouble. He is getting better though. The biggest thing we notice is how he mixes up his sounds sometimes. For example, sometimes he says "chootstick" instead of "chapstick", or if he cannot recall a certain word he says the next similar. For example, "waitress" instead of "nurse". For the most part though, you can understand what he is trying to communicate to you because he pairs it with body language and pointing. Usually he knows what he means to say, but sometimes the wrong word just comes out.
Other than that, it is an absolutely putrid day. I have to get ready for the Halloween party/bonfire tonight. Luckily, I believe they have the barn cleared out for the rain. I will talk to everyone tomorrow. Oh, and Mike has an appointment with Edwin Shaw's haircutting place to get his hair cut.
