DAY 27 AT EDWIN SHAW
Tonight was wonderful. Uncle Gary and Aunt Jenn brought in a pizza. We all went down to the cafeteria and ate. Grandma & Grandpa were there too. Sharon, Kevin, Kyle, & Bret weren't there tonight because they were camping. Mike had SIX pieces of pizza. And some chips. And some Sprite. And a piece of the Pirchners' apple cake.
He later ate a piece of pumpkin cookie bar that one of his nurses brought in.
Deonna & Denny stopped by, as well as Kurt. I got to see pictures from last night of their costumes. They are going to email me some, so I'll pick out a good one and throw it in the album.
I did not wear my costume today because it is just too difficult to get on, and I didn't feel like it. I think I might wear it tomorrow. Mike picked out a hat that Deonna & Denny brought (they had three for him to choose from), and he is going to wear it to therapy tomorrow. I think the staff are dressing up for Halloween.
Today was such a nice day. We took Mike outside for about an hour around the grounds. It was so pretty, and we got some good photos (in album). The trees are so colorful around there. We also took Mike down by the golf course at Edwin Shaw. Kurt has promised to take Mike golfing there as soon as he is able to (probably next spring).
I have noticed that as Mike gets better, I run out of things to say! I have been telling you more about my day-to-day happenings than anything. In keeping with that, I'll at least tell you about Halloween.
Lauren and I decided last minute to go up to Kent instead of downtown Akron last night. I have never seen so many people in Halloween costumes. We ran into a bunch of really cool costumes including, Mick Dundee, Toby Keith, Medusa, the Black Knight from Monty Python, Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Caribbean, Tom Cruise from Risky Business, the Dead Presidents, and we even spotted the blocks from Tetras!! Needless to say, it was fun, but cold. The lines for the bars were horrible, so we only went in one. It was more fun people watching on the street. I put some of the better photos in the album. The best costume hands-down was this girl who painted herself green and had this handmade snake headdress. She wore reptile contacts and was Medusa. It was almost too freaky.
We've been telling Mike about this website. We told him that maybe in recreational therapy they will let him hop online and look at it. They have a computer with Internet in there I believe. He says he can't understand how so many people care about what he is doing. I told him that sometime soon he is going to be able to go online and post a message from himself to everyone. He joked and said he's start it with, "Hello my people..." like Dr. Evil or something. It is so nice when we are all laughing, him included. Anyways, I've gotta get to putting some clothes in the wash. I'm trying to get my butt back in gear. I think this week I might actually try to go to all of my classes and stuff. It has been really difficult to find the motivation. The funny thing is, unlike my engineering classes, I think I am actually still doing okay in my classes despite my utter lack of effort. It kind of annoys me though. It makes me wonder why I have worked my butt off so much over the last four years...
Note: For the time being, Webshots is being problematic. Check back tomorrow and see if the photos have showed up on the server.
