Mike, I wouldn't plan on cheating from Kurt. You might do better in the state you are in than Kurt on a good day! I'll be here to check on you! Mr. Hall

Hey Mike,
Just got back from a business trip to Memphis, so I didn’t get to see you Tuesday night. As I understand it, Jenny brought a container of home made chocolate chip cookies for everyone. As I also understand it, there are few if any left, a mere 36 hours later!!
We celebrate the little steps that occur with you. Seeing the door to your room being partially opened signals positive strides, the ability to deal with external noise. Watching you take halting breaths last night (8/31/05) on your own was both disturbing yet encouraging. Your head and arm moved when the nurse took blood, I don’t think you were pleased. You get uptight as evidenced by your increased heart rate but seem to relax when we touch and reassure you that we are standing next to you.
We have to compare the present to the first days of your injury to remind us of the progress you are making….very, very, very small steps…..but positive steps.
The amount of prayers being sent your way is incredible. You have many folks pulling for you. Your lucky to have such a great support group...make sure and thank all of them when you come out of this……their thoughts/support often carried us.
Uncle Gary

Hey Mike, wanted to keep you updated on everything: Elise started college this week, that seems to be going ok. She got a job at the Akron Zoo, in the gift shop. They have her working 30 hrs a week. Gary & I told her she needed to cut back on hrs, we think it will be to much for her. New Orleans just had a terrible hurricane. The whole city is flooded. They are saying this is the worst natural disaster in US history. And because of that, gas has gone up to over $3's a gallon. I heard today that it soon will be over $4's, & thats just around here. They are also having a BIG problem w/looters. You would think people wouldn't be taking advantage of a bag situation. Well I should go back to work now. I just wanted you to know I was thinking about you, actually thats all any of us has been doing. Your family & friends love you very much. Jennifer PS. I was mowing back by the berries the other day & thought about how much you love to weed. ;D

Mike:
As has been the case since your injury, I can't sleep. It's 4:30 in the morning and all I could think about was you. So I got out of bed and read last nights update. Very encouraging! Maybe that's why I couldn't sleep tonight, somehow knowing there was some good news that I was not yet aware of. The night of your injury, I didn't know you had been hurt but was wide awake. I ended up working on the computer that Saturday morning about 4:00, that was when your grandpa was trying to get hold of me, but we are on dial up so he couldn't get through. Maybe we sense things about you!
Little by little, step by step. Hang in there buddy.

Hey Mike, I just got to thinking about something. I'm hungry now so it came to mind. I am anxiously awaiting for you to get out of there because I am still waiting for you to cook dinner for me. I'll keep my calendar open for you!

Hi Mike:
I am a friend in the Highland family and have three boys who have gone through Highland. I did watch your car video and just thought "so typical of the male gender" as my boys and even the old one known as my husband (yes he still tries it) do that very same thing. So when you are back to driving you have got to "lay some rubber" in front of our house so we know you are up and driving around and you will be sure to get everyone's attention except maybe mine as I need a more conventional hello.
You are in our thought and prayers.

Hello, I do not know you Mike, but after taking this link from a friends profile, I want to wish you the best. I am one of the many who take every day for granted, and I am now sorry for that! Get better, and one day maybe we will meet! You are in my prayers, and lord knows the best will come your way!

Mike, this is your sister. I can't sleep. Usually I can, tonight I can't. The street sweeper just went by. All the usual Akron weirdness continues to go on. I haven't seen incense man out during the day when we drive by though. But mom swears the neighbor guy down the road puts an imaginary box out by the bush by the church every morning. You would appreciate that! Plus, Seinfeld just ain't the same, so I can't go watch that. Anyways, I thought of you tonight when my computer crashed like 3 times in a row and how you often want to chuck your monitor out our back window. I resisted the urge. I also resisted the urge to run over people with my car in the Exchange parking deck today--you know what idiots they can be. Normally we would be ticked off together, griping about the dumb drivers on campus, sitting at our computers wasting time like real college students. I realized today just how absolutely ticked off I am that this has happened to you. I want you to heal fast, but I know that might not be the best thing right now, so I have to be patient. I know that for a sister I am annoying, I nag, I whine, I am emotional and overly-sensitive, and I talk so much that you often master just tuning me out but making me think you are listening! But I promise not to harp at you about stupid things, or whine when you won't let me borrow your pimped out bike or drive your car. You have always been there for me and I will always be there for you. I wish you were home with us. You have always been my best friend. This happening has made me realize just how many memories we do have. I wish I could talk to you and know that you hear me. And there's not a moment of the day when I am not thinking about you, even when I don't show it. I cry when no one is looking which I know you wouldn't be proud of, but I am positive, you should know that, I am optimistic things will turn out okay. I just know it will take time. But you are the one who sees the good in grey days and is always finding the positive in things, so I will carry that with me as long as necessary.

Hey Mike:
I can't sleep ..... thinking of you!
Ironically your sister can't either, up at the very same time as me. So your sister has a wild idea, instead of counting sheep.....we are counting fungi dying.......I have serious doubts whether that will help me sleep....but if it helps get rid of your blood infection....I'll stay up all night for you.
Just thought you would want something to laugh about when you read this later and something to wonder about.....both Kristen and I not sleeping at the very same time in the middle of the night because we were thinking of you!

Mike, I wanted to let you know that those tacky medical equipment sales people who were in your room this morning WON'T be coming back. I made sure of that. I think I went a little postal on that woman. They were dressed to the nines lookin like fish out of water. Anyways, I told her where to put it more or less, and they will know not to step foot in your room with their speel ever again. Now, if she was really hot, I woulda let her stay cause I know you would have enjoyed watching. But don't worry, it is the only blemish on Akron General's record in my book, and was an easy problem to take care of. You probably got a kick out of me turning red with steam out my ears--you know how I get. But anyways, Love, your sister

hey mike,
You and I are headed down to Mount Union to visit Geo. We'll get Vinny and Kurt too. It's been a while since all of us went cruising for girls. Plus, its been too long since I've had to get a girls number for you. haha.
Let me know when you want to go and I'll head on down from Michigan. I got my new truck ready to go. It's no fast car but the ladies dig guys in pick-ups, I think? haha.

Mike, Last four days have been very rough on me. I know they have probably been rougher on you so that makes me very lame. However, just wanted to assure you that Dad on his last trip home to Wadsville fired up your 'Stang and let it run awhile.
I had been reminding him that if we neglected that, you would kill us when you are well enough to find out. Your car is DEFINITELY way cooler than most young guy's cars these days, and you know how to drive it too. I admire your ability to 'stay cool' while at a red light next to some idiot in a little FWD, imported 4-banger trying to challenge you. I would be screaming, "Geez! Stomp it when it changes!"
"You can't give them the pleasure," you always would say to me regarding the "Wadsworth punks". "Know when to pick your battles," which for you always seemed to be against something more ridiculous, more out of respect for the other guy's way sweeter Ferrari or Viper or Lotus, and all in good fun. You just respect your car way too much than to strain it against a little Honda or something.
Anyways, I haven't gotten to ride shotgun many times in your new car since you got it this spring. I wish I could right now, even though I know you would make me duck if we pulled up next to some hot chick at the light on 94.

Mike,
Don't let your uncle Gary give you a bad time about being a STUD!!! He's just jealous that at his AGE nobody is calling him a Stud. ;D
Wear that Stud moniker with pride.
We're glad to hear about all your progress and we continually check the web site to hear of more.

Hey Mikey, Remember, you gotta rest up for this winter, it's tradition to go car-sledding! Too bad that the T-Bird is retired, it was always good for it. I don't think that you'd wanna take the 5.0, at least I wouldn't, we'll beat up my mom's car instead. LOL. Anyways, I'm really looking forward to hanging out real soon. We all can't car-sled without you, it wouldn't be nearly as fun, or dangerous!!! -Kurt
