Mike,
Welcome back!! We are SO glad to have you back!!
You probably won't remember this time period later. Please let me fill you in. You're a really good guy, and everyone who has ever known you, or even heard about you knows it. So many people have you in their thoughts and prayers and are sending a lot of love your way. We all want to see you make a full recovery!
You have a family who loves you tremendously and who will do everything possible to support you throughout your recovery. Because your family loves you so much, this has all been very difficult for them. They have been quite worried about you. Just like with your quiet nature, you continue to keep everyone guessing. Don't worry, your quiet nature makes you easy to love (and we continue to try to get information about you from Kristen, and she is doing a great job at updating us.)
Get well soon!! Afterall, you are going to be the 2006 Family Reunion President. (Just kidding.) As soon as you are ready, we will celebrate by having Hoyt size pieces of cake.
I doubt that you ever realized how much people love you. Trust me, from what I have seen people really adore you. I'm sure that we don't tell you enough, but we really love you!
Love, Deonna

Mike, I need you for the next Indian's games!!! You'll need to protect me again from those foul balls. Remember, I'm an old lady with slow reflexes.
Also, I just saw that you wrote your name in the dust in my car. I'm saving it so you can clean it up! Just kidding.......I'll take care of it. I'll cherish it forever.
Glad to always have you around.
Love, Debbie Parker

Hey buddy boy, it’s Uncle Gary,
You scared me like I’ve never been scared, but I’m so glad to see you up and at ‘em again. As I post this, I haven’t seen the CD of you burning the tires off of my (and your) old t-bird…..plan to do it soon….you do know that was sacrilegious, don’t you! I miss not getting e-mails from you and wondering what fine, sophisticated subject you may be sending me that day (or vice versa!).
The weeds around the lake are begging for your attention, I still have a half scraped barn and Panda can’t wait until she can gnaw on your boot again! Jenny will have a pitcher of lemonade sitting in the fridge, when you come down to the farm. I know Elise and her five roommates will welcome you back at their college home in Akron.....something tells me you will like that!
Remember when I took Kristen and you to see Michael Jordan play? We’ll see if we can see LeBron the next time we go!
Bret, Kyle and you are the sons I never had, so let’s get you back to speed quicker than later, we need you. Of course Kristen is like Elise’s sister (another daughter of ours), so we all need you back, pronto.
It won’t be easy when you get out but Jenny, Elise and I will be there for you…..see you soon Mike!!!!!
p.s. Everyone says you look like me, what I want to know is are you a good looking version of me or vice versa!!!

Mike, Glad to hear you are back to yourself. Applebee's stock has been down and they've been wondering when we plan to go for 1/2 off appetizers again. I told them that we would all be visiting shortly. Its after 9 sun-thurs. and after 10 on fridays and saturdays.....but I know you already knew that. Mindi hasn't forgotten how you like your boneless buffalo wings prepared, so we've got that covered. Good luck on a speedy recovery. ~George

Hey Mike:Welcome back! I've just viewed the T-Bird video (at work-shame on me). I can't believe the Bird had it in her! Tom DeFelice says that you should have gave him credit also since he assured me that running it at 85-90 mph to Chicago with 200 miles on it would have no long-term adverse affects! You need to know what a rock your sister was through this ordeal. I knew she was strong, but had no idea how strong. To pull this forum together, to somehow state all the facts in regards to your hospital care, after a long day is incredible. When I come home from seeing you in Intensive Care, I'm blown out and I am usually there for a few hours, but not the entire visiting period....but Kristen and your mom/dad and Grandma/Grandpa (and often Sharon) are there the majority of the time. Kristen and the rest of them are tough cookies, which I find encouraging, as that same blood runs through your veins. I want to know if someday you will sell your mustang to Kristen's son. Then he will make a video of it when he is ready to send it to the junkyard and you are an old man (by the way, your perception of what an old man will change every day as the years pass!) Uncle Gary p.s. who is Mindi at Applebee's? p.s.s. come and get my golfclubs! I can't control them, you seem to be the only person that can! The only time I could was this past May when you let me wear your golf shoes!!! ;D

I took your 5.0 out for a spin today. After red-lining it for awhile, I realized it went into 2nd gear, I later learned that it also goes to 3, 4, and 5. 3rd gear sticks a little bit, but I don't think you should worry, the black smoke didn't seem to slow me down any. As our movie hero "Randall 'Memphis' Raines" would say: "It's OK, Eleanor. It can be fixed."

Mike, I'm so happy you are back. I told Gary one day as you where laying in the hospital still under sedation, that if you knew we all were in there looking at you in your nice hospital gown, you would have a cow. You need to hurry & get back to your old self because my flowers are growing tall & they are in desperate need of a good mowing down. We all missed you & love you very much. Panda has been waiting patiently to give you a big doggie kiss. By the way, I like how after you peeled out in the thunderbird, you put your turn signal on to pull into your drive, goof. Love Jennifer

Mike,
Hope you're back soon. It won't be the same goin to Applebee's or bowling without you when I come home from BG! I know you'll be around soon though. And in the spring when I get my Trans Am; you, Bri, and I need to head down to Norwalk so then we can see who's really got the biggest balls! (That may have sounded a little gay but I'm sure you know what I mean!)
I'll talk to ya soon! Jeff

Alright, Mike! I know you well enough to know you will just snicker when you read this! I’ve watched you in your ICU room daily since the morning of the accident. Mike, tonight Thursday August 25, 2005 was the first time you’ve looked like the Mike that I know so well! Swelling can be a terrible thing, but swelling going down is a wonderful thing!!!! Tomorrow a.m. is your first day without sedative. If you are awake tomorrow, that’s great….if not, that’s alright…. these things can take time. I’ll see you tomorrow! Uncle Gary p.s. As usual, your mom & dad, Kristen, grandma & grandpa, Sharon/Kevin/Bret/Kyle, Jenny/Elise and all others are rocks, incredibly strong! I’ll bet you had no idea how strong they really are! Tonight was the first night we laughed about some things you have done in the past (plant identification guide for Jenny for one). The laughter proves how much better you looked tonight, laughter was in short supply prior to this evening.

Mike,
Look, seriously: the annual Gamauf party is coming up soon, and I absolutely NEED you and Kristen there to keep me company! Who else will ride the four-wheelers late into the night? Us younger generation Gamaufs have got to stick together. I just want you to know I absolutely expect you to be in attendance. No excuses.
I look forward to seeing you there, if not before.
With love, Darcy

Dear Mike and Family, May God be with you all! Stay Strong, and keep your heads high, take each day for what it is. Mike working with you these past two years have been a pleasure, to say the least. As quiet as you may have been we all miss you dearly, and for some reason Scott sure is fond of you I'm sure i can imagine why! Your little smirk, at those silly jokes the guys are always making is just adorable. When you get home from the hospital I wish you the best of luck in all that you may do... And don't forget us next summer back at the Garage... even if you don't work with us next summer, you better visit! We Miss Ya! ~Sam Mercer~

Hey, Mike, it's Aunt Debbie-
Please know that we are all here for you, even if we can't be in the room with you all the time. You and the family are in our thoughts and prayers constantly. The strength to get through this has come through in many ways and it will continue to help you heal all the way!
Kristen is truly keepin us goin... she understands all the medical talk and mechanical pieces and parts and translates for us! She keeps on goin for you!
What IS Darcy thinkin' anyway that your generation is the only group to take on those hills on the four wheelers?? I'll give it a go with you guys again soon with your Mom & Dad & Sis's hair blowin in the wind! And layin' rubber on the roads.... I think you got those genes from your Dad! (Or I did my share years ago, too, only I was trying to learn to drive stick shift on a car with an engine bigger than life! Never did get the hang of that! My tracks were only a foot long, then another foot long, etc. as I jerked it down the road!) Love to you- Thinkin of you all the time, Love Aunt Debbie

Alright, Mike: As soon as you wake from your nap (just like in my class, I might add), I expect the first thing for you to do is recite your 45 prepositions, 23 auxiliary verbs, and 11 linking verbs. I know that is familiar territory for you, so it should be a cinch! I'll be waiting to hear the results. Hurry, Mike, I'm not getting any younger, you know! Mr. Ron Hall---Highland Middle School

OK, two things in regards to the 7/03/2005 photo currently at the top of the page.
Look at the poor little girl looking over your shoulder....she's pouting because you have your arm around the other girl......she wanted you to put your arm around her!!!!
Second, after looking at this photo, I take back my earlier comment about you looking like me......your a heck of a lot better looking!!!!!! (don't let it go to your head!)

"am is are was were, be been being, have has had, do does did, may might must, can could shall should will would." Well Mike, I'll let you cheat off of me. Mr. Hall, I'm not sure what those are, I just had them memorized in some sort of an order. I was awake in your class half of the time, so that's all I remembered. Mike, we sure did have fun in Mr. Hall's class, for all of the things we did, and most of the things we never got caught doing. Language Arts 6th and 7th period was always a blast.
Talk to you later bro, Kurt
