This letter is for Mike's family,
I sat with you in the ICU and watched your family pull together in this trying time. You taught me that in the turmoil and grief that everyone is going through in the ICU that the greater side and the better parts of humanity still shine through. Throughout the craziness that we were all falling through, we still took time to give each other hugs, slaps on the back and a kind smile. I'll never forget the kindness that you showed me in my moments of suffering. And I really appreciate the prayers and happy thoughts that you pushed my way, even during your grief. Even though my wife has been moved up to a new floor and is out of the ICU, I still want you to know that we are thinking of your family every day in our prayers and even though we are not in the waiting room with you anymore, we are there in spirit. Know that you are not alone in this and that God will help you pull through. Miracles happen every day, and angels are all around us. Please keep in touch, and I look forward to talking to you in the future. Mark and Kristen Hamilton and the Hamilton/Imburgia family. mhamilton5@neo.rr.com

Dear Mike and Family,
We do not know your family, but we are in the same bible class as Candice and Jonathan Forte. They have been asking everyone to pray for you and your family during this time. I can imagine what your family is going through because my family has been helped through a time of trauma with prayers from people all over the world. Our family will be praying for you daily with hopes of a full recovery.
Sincerely, Elizabeth & Joshua Mullins

Dear Kristen and Family,
My dad, Ted Patrick, has been your grandfather's neighbor for about 20 years. I remember your grandparents bringing you and Mike over to our house to swim. They have both always spoken so highly of and with such pride about you and Mike. On behalf of the whole Patrick clan, we just wanted to say that we are so sorry to hear about this accident, and of course, are keeping all of you, especially Mike, in our thoughts and prayers. Hang in there!

Gamauf Family,
Just finished reading the night update of Friday, 9/1/05, so very happy to hear Mike's fever broke! Ice packs, misting -- whatever it takes. He opened and blinked his eyes, how wonderful! May you continue to see progress in Mike's health. Hopefully, he will be back with us real soon. Thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Mike and his family.

It's almost been two weeks. I am amazed at how much progress Mike has made already. It seems he is on the road to recovery more and more everyday. I hope that things continue to progress daily for him. He has a lot of people caring for him right now, and also praying for strength for both Mike and his family to get through this together.
Kristen, you are amazing. You are pulling through this very well and have taught me a lot through this message board about Mikes condition, words I never heard before.... Thanks for sticking with the message board, even though you are so busy with school and visiting Mike. It's a lot to do but there are a large number of people who are reading this two, three times a day just to see what you wrote.
Thanks for the posts.
Let me know if you need anything or want to hang out.
Christin

Mike, Since I moved to Atlanta (9 years ago, yikes) I've been out of the family loop, but my dad (Deryl Albrecht) called me to let me know your situation. I can't remember exactly how we are related, but I think we are cousins ( ). The last time I saw you was at Aunt Jean's for the 4th of July a couple of years ago. Just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and I hope you have a speedy recovery. My sister Stacey (she was at Aunt Jean's too) lives down here now too and told me to tell you hello and to get well soon. Thanks to Kristen for keeping up this site and hello to all the family and friends that are reading this. Please email me, it would be great to hear you and everyone I've fallen out of touch with. Best regards, Bryan Albrecht

Jim, Diane and Kristen,
The kids and I continue to pray for Mike's recovery daily. The first thing Cally does in the morning before she goes to school is to check the website to see how Mike is doing. I think this has helped her to realize just how fragile life can be and now that she is driving, that is a good thing. Kristen, the relationship that you and Mike share is truly an amazing one. I hope that when Cally and Colton are older that they can have a relationship like that too. You have done a wonderful job with keeping us all informed of Mike's progress. Jim and Diane, please know that we are all constantly thinking about you and praying for Mike's speedy recovery. If there is anything you need please know that we are here for you. All our love,
Cindy, Cally and Colton

I have seen much progress in Mike since day two when I first found out of Mike's fall. On day two, mike was almost not recognizable as the Mike Gamauf that I know. He now looks almost normal, or as normal as can be given the circumstances. He has been in my thoughts every day since, and seeing his progress, however small, makes it all the easier to get through. Though I realize that he will never be the same, he is strong, in both body and mind, and this will help him get as far as possible in the road to recovery. Life goes on, and life will continue to go on as well as is possible, given the circumstances. Be strong, Mike, and we can all be strong for you. Mike, you are in my thoughts and prayers every day.
Love, Kyle

I’ve just read Kristen’s evening post: “Just one glance at him and you would understand how scary it is.” I couldn’t agree more.
We all took a few days off from visiting Mike in hopes of helping him regain his strength. It was very sobering tonight after not seeing him for a few days…it brought Jenn & I to tears for a few moments, but then we started considering all of the positives and realized just how lucky we are.
Tomorrow, Mike will have been in ICU for three weeks! Think about it, how many times have you heard others tell how someone was in ICU for several days and what a terrible ordeal it was?? Mike has been in there for 3 WEEKS. It’s like he’s been running a marathon for 21 days straight. His body is whipped, his breathing is halting and his heart rate high. I’m not sure there is a piece of equipment in ICU that hasn’t been hooked up to him. We need Mike solidly back on the road to recovery.
I want every person who reads this to take a few minutes tomorrow and get very serious about praying for him. Not a religious man or woman? Then find somewhere quiet and bear down and send him some major positive thoughts.
Tonight Mike blinked his eyes when Jenn told him our dog (& Mikes friend) Panda said hello. His heart rate increased substantially when I approached him and told him I was there. Is he picking up on things? I honestly believe so. Mike has and will continue to improve but he has a long way to go. Send your strongest positive thoughts, prayers and vibes to date, to Mike tomorrow. He is way too important to all of us to spend another 3 weeks in ICU. Help us help him recover!
OK, Mike....here it comes. Everyone has been praying and thinking of you, but Friday you will feel the collective love, hope, strength and courage of all of your friends, family and even strangers. It's gonna feel so good to you, enjoy it and build on it......it's the only thing we can give you at this point.
Uncle Gary

I am following up on my husbands request: for everyone who knows & loves Mike, or just knows of him, to please take time out of your busy day today & send all of your love, prayers, vibes what have you, toward Mike ( & his family). Yes he has improved from 3 weeks ago, & yes I do think he knows when someone is there with him. But it still just breaks my heart every time I see him laying there, & to see his parents & sister in so much pain. It is time for all of the problems to stop & for him to move forward. I know everyone of you will help. Mike needs us all now & we cannot let him down. Because we all need him back in our lives. We love you Mike, Jennifer

I read todays report and I am so glad that Mike is doing better. How great is that to hear the fever is gone!!!! I am glad all those "positive vibes" are still being put to work. I know that there is still a long way to go but it is really nice to see that he will soon be communicating with you. I'm so happy for all of you that Mike is doing better today. I know it must ease your minds some seeing the progress. Let us pray for strength for all of you and a quick recovery process for Mike.

Hello from Texas, Diane, Jim & Kristen Just wanted y'all to know I read your updates daily and pass them back to Ohio when I talk to your Uncle Bus each night. He will be VERY happy to hear about Mike's improvement as all of us here in Texas are. We are all praying for him and I know Dad has his name on the prayer list at Lafayette Methodist. I know it is really hard but all of you can find some little thing to laugh about each day and tell Mike about it, it will help all of you. Laughter got me through my cancer 7 years ago, so I speak from experience. Much love to all of you. Cousin Karen

Hi Kristen and all of Mike's family and friends,
My name is Jessie Harris. I met Mike on July 3 this year in Norwalk Ohio at a racing event I was participating in. Mikes smile lit up the crowd and really drew me to him. It was a pleasure to meet him and I'm honored that he was as happy to meet me.
My prayers are with you all who are so close to him. There are no words to fix things but there is a support system that this website and you all seem to have found to help pull Mike through this. Kristen sent me a note a few days ago with the details of this site and Mike's condition. I will continue to pray for Mike, his family, and all of you that have showed your love and support through this site. Know that you are not alone.
Kristen, I will be sending you an e-mail. Thank you for keeping me in the loop. This site is great and you've done a wonderful job staying strong and positive. You are a shining light not only to Mike but everyone posting. Over the next couple weeks I'd like to possibly arrange a visit with you and your family.
My heart is with you all.
Jessie Harris

Hi Kristen and family, This is Elizabeth, Leighann's friend, and glad to say your friend as well. I have been reading these updates since the accident and I've wanted to write a quick note, but I haven't really known what to say. I don't know Mike, and I've only known you a short while, so I can't relay on past memories, but I did want to show that my heart and prayers are with you and your family. I read the update for each day before I go to bed, and I say a prayer before I fall asleep each night. I've added Mike to my church's prayer list as well. Please know that God will get you all through this horrible incident, and you will all be stronger as a family when Mike is fully recovered. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need ANYTHING! I will always have a shoulder to lean on and an open phone line to talk on!! Keep praying, Elizabeth Coz

Dear Kristen, Diane and Jim:
Deryl and I are praying every day for Mike's recovery and your comfort. We know you will all get through this and that something good will come out of this trauma. Keep being positive and thinking positive thoughts as optimism speeds healing (fact). Keep doing everything you are doing because you ARE helping him. And DO NOT let anyone negative around him or any of you for that matter. YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS. Please take care.
Love, Deryl and Sally

Kristen and family,
Our daughter, Jessie Harris (Queen of Diamonds) forwarded your message and website to us and I have been praying for you all daily. I check each day to see the progress made and worry about you.
Kristen -- you are a blessing for everyone. I am very proud of you. Your positive attitude and direct manner remind me of my daughter. You both can light up the darkest times. I was at Jessie's Norwalk race and remember how many people were there ---Jessie never finished until wee hours of the morning. Wish I had met you. It is people like Mike that make her love what she is doing.
Prayer is powerful and so is positive energy. Surround yourself with good, positive things and people. Protect your heart but never give up.
I will wait for the day that Mike is well enough and we will all meet at the racetrack.
Penny and Joe Veschusio in New York
